Our story, just like every other thing in life is in stages, therefore for everyone’s story there are three stages- The Past, Present and Future…..

PAST: there is this popular saying to ‘never let your past dictate your future’ which is so true. However, we must also understand that if we don’t know where we are coming from, we can’t determine where we are going to; in other words we need to have a complete understanding of what we have been through to be wholly prepared for what is to come/where we are going. It is also absolutely true that we can’t change what happened in the past, but we can let the past be our guiding light to the future because whether  we believe it or not our past experiences has helped shape who we are today. Now I need you to get this, the past might have led you to where you are right now but it cannot reach out and hold you back from stepping into that glorious future, except you let it. Oprah Winfrey didn’t let her abused past rob her of an amazing future and neither did Colonel Harland Sanders let his poor background deprive him of his rich future. In essence, what I am trying to say here is, do not use your past an excuse for your failure in the future; but rather a driving force to achieve greater things. Be a better person and reach the full potential you were created for.

Your story is incomplete without your past…

PRESENT: the core of this stage is choice (Decision making and preparation stage). Decision stage here implies making up your mind. Understand how your past relates to your future- transform that past into positive attitude to achieve the goals you set for yourself. Hopefully if you have made the decision to think positively and steer your future in the direction of greatness you want it to go, then my friend you need to prepare. If your desire is to be a lawyer in future then you have to prepare by getting a law degree and if it’s to become a skilled entrepreneur, you also have to prepare by learning a skill.

FUTURE: what do you hope to become, have you seen it? Does the thought and feeling keep you awake at night? Does it stare at you every time you look in the mirror? That is your future. The future is that greatness you were born with plus the dream you envision for yourself. Contrary to popular saying, ‘it never comes to those who wait’. You have to hustle for your future and when I say hustle, I am not talking about the scamming-yahooboy-kind-of-hustle or ‘Runz girl kind’; I am talking about the focused-hardworking-purpose-oriented-hustle. When your mate are busy skipping classes, migrating from one club to another drinking and partying, you are busy studying, coming up with innovative idea, taking internships and learning to have owners mentality. For your Future to become a reality you have to be ready to deny yourself of certain luxuries and be prepared to do whatever it takes legally, however long that is until you reach your goals.

Taking a look at any great person around, they all have one thing in common- Hustling. Forgive my word usage because I seem not to find a better word to describe their zest and zeal. Oprah winfrey hustled and that’s why we have the Oprah Winfrey Network today, Cobhams Asuquo, though blind has worked tirelessly to position himself as one of the best Music producer/Musician on the African continent.

So my friends I want you to understand we all have our own stories and we can choose how it is told by dreaming big, telling ourselves we can and believing we really can.

Stay Positive.
